                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  We wanted to create an opportunity for today’s children to experience a tomato picked fresh as it explodes in your mouth, to know the sound of running barefoot through autumn leaves, to gather perfumes and smells to trigger special childhood memories. In 1996, except for three river gums, my Getaway Gardens were paddocks of weeds, not a flower or green lawn to be seen. Now there are gardens, vegetables, animals and the ambience and joy nature so freely gives to everyone who make the time to soak it in. There are paths to guide you to the gracious arms of two magnificent river gums that have shared their lives harmoniously together for over 200 years. What an example to us all.

Gardens of fresh seasonal vegetables, grown for your picking, to complement your barbecue or home cooked meal. All pantries in our six homes and cottages are filled with scrumptious self-serve ingredients for both continental and cooked breakfast.
Feel the earth awakening and indulge yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the moment.

Fishing down on the river is also available in season, so why not bring your rods! Our special treat is the children’s animal farm where we encourage feeding the large variety of animals and birds and collecting fresh farm eggs.
